Manhattan Miniseries (With Sweaty Palms), 2009, Installation View - Heist Gallery, New York, NY

For Manhattan Miniseries (With Sweaty Palms), I created a mixed-media installation inspired by the idea of a green room and the private moments that occur behind the scenes, as a set for the production of daily episodes of It's a Process, my ongoing performance series in the form of a talk show. Each episode of It's a Process is a unique entity, ranging in form and content from the intimate to the extravagant, with the intention of setting a stage for dialogue, discovery and possible disaster. Special guest artists were invited to participate in the production of each episode/event, as are members of the studio audience, thus becoming collaborators and an integral part of the shape that each episode will take.

08/08/09, It's a Process: Wearable Art Research Empowerment Studio (W.A.R.E.S.) Episode
With Erica Magrey
Wearable Art Research Empowerment Studio was a collaborative workshop initiated by artist Erica Magrey and myself. Beginning with an informal discussion and a PowerPoint presentation offering inspirational source imagery, Erica and I guided participants through the process of using simple materials to make their own goddess headdresses, transforming the gallery into a place for the live production of art in addition to the presentation of finished works. The workshop culminated in photo shoot with participants modeling the headdress they had created.

With Cassie Thornton

Throughout the day, gallery visitors were invited to participate in simply staged dramatic readings with us. Costumes and wigs were provided, in order to help the actors fully inhabit their roles.

08/16/09, It's a Process: Everything Must Go Episode and Group Show/Garage Sale
For the last episode of my show, I organizing a one day "everything must go" sale, in the form of an open-ended group show/garage sale. Participating artists were welcome to include whatever artworks they wished or to bring in actual garage sale items they were looking to liquidate. In order to widen the circle of participants, I offered each artist whom I invited to invite their own guest artist to participate in the event as well.
